‘Tender Heads’ pt 1

A series celebrating the textures and materials used in Black hair care, reframing the term “tender-headed” that many of us were called in a negative context as children. I wanted to pay homage to the softness of our hair, and offer a soft place to land in the scarves, bonnets, combs and creams which we use religiously to care for our hair. A visual love letter to our inner children, who may not have always had the smoothest experience sat on the floor infant of our carers laps as they parted our coils and yanked at knots. We are tender, our heads are full of knowledge and beauty and softness. Our inner children deserve to know that 🤎
